Port of Le Havre

Harbour Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Le Havre, Normandy, France)

Le Havre is France's busiest port in terms of traffic. There are two ferry terminals at the port. The Terminal de Grand Bretagne (British Terminal) is operational for ferry crossings. The Terminal Irelande (Irish Terminal) has now stopped its services to Ireland.

Port facilities include a tourist information office on the Boulevard Clémenceau and a café, convenience store and money changing facilities within the terminal.

Wheelchair access is available and staff are on hand to assist anyone with a disability, though prior notification is requested.

The British Terminal is located close to bus and train routes in the Bassin de la Citadelle, where ferries depart for Portsmouth.

Ferry Services

Le Havre's large cargo traffic makes it the busiest port in France although, these days, only one destination is served by passenger ferries.

LD Lines sail on a daily basis to and from Portsmouth, departing Le Havre at 17:00 and taking approximately 6 hours. It is asked that passengers arrive at the terminal at least 60 minutes before departure time (90 minutes for those with pets or a disability).

The vessel, The Norman Spirit, is a speedy, modern and well-equipped ship which can carry around 1,850 passengers, 700 cars and 110 lorries. Onboard, there is a host of dining options, shopping opportunities, internet access and children's play zones.
